JOURNEY OF SCHOLARSHIP ACTIVITY

Karnataka Arya Vysya Charitable Trust, a state level organization, has been serving for upliftment of our society since more than 4 decades. Amongst various service activities, it has been pioneering the cause of education by granting scholarships to the most deserving students in the State of Karnataka and neighboring States for successfully pursing their higher education translating their dreams into reality ultimate.

Until 2006-2007: The Trust desired to reimburse a part of the fee of the students pursuing technical education such as Engineering , Medical and other Courses with a view to encourage them. The amount spent every year on this account aggregated to Rs.7, 50,000/- till 2007-2008

During 2007-2008: Sri. T.Srinivas became the Chairman and during his chairmanship, the amount distributed under Special Scholarship programme was Rs. 10 Lakhs.

We have helped more than a thousand such poor boys and girl to pursue their higher or professional courses.

2008 and onwards: an innovative method of distributing Special Scholarships envisaged by Sri I.S. Prasad who has drawn inspiration from the Sri GM Rao chairman of GMR Group, were approved by our Trust. Sri K.R.Pradeep as Chairman, Sri Yadalam G. Ramakumar as Co-Chairman, and Sri I.S.Prasad as Co-Chairman took the lead with the help of dedicated achievers in the year 2008-2009. A Special Scholarship Function was organized with the spirit of Donors giving the scholarships to the students directly. It was whole heartedly accepted by the Philanthropists.

As a result the trust was able to distribute scholarships,

• During the year 2008-2009, Rs 50 lakhs to nearly 600 students.
• During the year 2009 -2010, Rs 80 lakhs to nearly 850 students.
• During the year 2010-2011, Rs 80 lakhs to nearly 1200 students.
• During the year 2011-2012, Rs 80 lakhs to nearly 1200 students.
• Rs 65 lakhs to nearly 951 students during the financial year 2012 –2013.
• During the financial year 2013 – 2014, Rs 77 lakhs to nearly 1035 students.
• During the financial year 2014 – 2015,
• During the financial ye971 lakhs to nearly 12557 students during the last 14 yearsar 2015 – 2016.
• Rs 91 lakhs to nearly 1137 students; during the financial year 2016 - 2017.
• During the year 2017-2018, Rs 92 lakhs to nearly 1169 students.
• During the year 2018-2019, Rs 102 lakhs to nearly 1100 students.
• During the year 2019-2020, Rs 95 lakhs to nearly 1046 students.
• During the year 2020-21 Rs 54 Lakhs to Nearly 554 students.
• During the year 2021-22 Rs 65 Lakhs to Nearly 650 Students.

The support of donors and corporates. Those who witnessed the programme grew eager to extend their helping hand by contributing their might. The indefatigable efforts of Padmashree Dr. B.L.S. Murthy, Sri I.S.Prasad, Sri K.R. Pradeep, Sri Yadalam G.Ramkumar and efforts of other Core committee members deserve to be lauded.

HIGHLIGHTS OF SCHOLARSHIP ACTIVITY

The Trust was able to distribute scholarships more than 971 lakhs to nearly 12557 students during the last 14 years from 2008 to 2022 with the support of donors and corporates such as GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd & Bramaramba Dr. K.S. Sriram Charitable Foundation who have contributed significantly to provide scholarships to the students in the State of Karnataka

It is proposed by scholarship committee of KAVC Trust to extend financial assistance to students of Karnataka State who are in need and deserving and who are preparing for Competitive Examinations like IAS (finals) or who have secured top ranks in CET / CAT other Competitive Examinations.
